For Sports Clubs

Get to know our Healthy Hearing Program for sports clubs. With this program, your club can address all the risks of hearing damage that members may encounter while participating in sports activities. For instance, it is advisable to regularly check the ears of members engaged in activities involving prolonged exposure to loud noises, such as shooting sports.

The Healthy Hearing Program aims to keep athletes' ears healthy. As part of the program, your members will receive custom-fit earplugs, annual check-ups, and tips and tricks to prevent hearing damage during their favorite sports activities.

Complete care in 4 phases

Don't let hearing damage have a chance

We assess all the sounds and risks that you or the employee encounter daily. This is done through a questionnaire and sound measurements. Afterward, we create a personalized risk profile. You will see how your hearing will develop until the age of 65 if no action is taken to prevent hearing damage. This is important for raising awareness, so that behavioral coaching can have a more significant effect.

The second phase of the Healthy Hearing Program focuses on early detection of hearing damage. Therefore, we conduct a hearing scan right away. Our method is faster, easier, more accurate, and unaffected by external factors. With this scan, we examine the functioning of the entire ear and can detect any hearing damage at a very early stage. So early that you might not even notice any potential hearing damage yourself!

If it is impossible to address the source of the noise, then we need to protect you with hearing protectors. We select a hearing protector that best suits the situation and you. However, from experience, we know that even custom-made hearing protection is sometimes insufficiently or incorrectly worn. That’s why we also focus on consistent use and annually check the functionality of the hearing protector.

Protective hearing for sports clubs

Sports are healthy and good for a person. However, not every sport is also good for the ears. During some sports, the exposure to noise is so significant that athletes cannot do without proper hearing protection. This includes sports such as shooting, motorsports, and various watersports like surfing, waterskiing, flyboarding, and jet skiing.

In some cases, hearing protection is an essential part of the equipment for sports. Just as football players wear shin guards during football, shooting, motor, or watersports enthusiasts wear earplugs during their sport to protect their ears from permanent hearing damage.

As a sports club, you can consider promoting the use of earplugs among your members as a duty of care. By doing so, you prevent your members from experiencing hearing damage and allow them to enjoy their favorite sports for a longer time.

Custom-Fit Earplugs for Sports

At HearingCoach, we offer sports clubs the necessary hearing protection to safeguard the ears of their members from high sound levels. We develop custom-fit earplugs specifically tailored to the sport your members engage in, whether it’s swimming, surfing, shooting, or motocross.

These earplugs are precisely made to ensure no sound leaks past the earplugs while still allowing ambient sounds to pass through. Athletes can communicate with their sport buddies and hear important signals, ensuring their safety, for example, when riding a motorcycle on the road.

Protective hearing for various sports

There are several sports where good hearing protection is an absolute must due to high sound levels during the activities. At HearingCoach, we always recommend sports clubs to encourage the use of earplugs in the following activities:

  • Water Sports: Water sports like swimming, surfing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and flyboarding are beloved activities. Using earplugs during water sports is crucial for comfort and protecting your hearing. They prevent the entry of (dirty) water or chlorine into the ear, avoiding discomfort or ear infections. Additionally, custom-fit earplugs reduce ambient noises, allowing better focus on the sport. In summary, earplugs are an essential tool for any water sports enthusiast to enjoy safely and comfortably.
  • Spinning: Using earplugs during a spinning class with loud music can contribute to a more focused training session. They also protect your hearing from high sound levels that could negatively impact your hearing. Custom-fit earplugs can allow you to still hear instructions and music, but at a safer level.
  • Shooting Sports and Hunting: At shooting ranges or during hunting, gunshots create a lot of noise. Each shot can easily reach 140 dB, and exposure to more than 120 dB is enough to cause immediate permanent hearing damage. This underscores the importance of proper hearing protection for these sports.
  • Motorsports: Whether you are part of a motocross club or a group of road riders, you find yourself in the midst of adventure and excitement of sound. Motorcycling can produce noise levels of up to 94 dB, which exceeds the 80 dB considered safe for prolonged exposure. However, the good news is that with the right hearing protection, all members of your club can fully enjoy their riding experience without worrying about their hearing. Protection allows them to be fully engaged in the action while safeguarding their hearing health.
